Our Story

We moved to Hampstead in 2006 and began our family here in 2010. Coming from a background of food, and a strong sense of community, we have been imagining the concept of Oval and Ale for years - knowing how challenging meals out can be with little ones - we wanted a place to meet friends and enjoy quick meals in a casual and fun setting. We wanted a place where families could meet friends, grab quick meals after events, and become a part of our great community. The Oval part of the concept came during Covid. Searching for things to do with our boys, we came across the story of Pinsa. After making it a few times - we knew it was an amazing product with potential to be the core of our new venture.
What is Pinsa?
Pinsa is an ancient roman style pizza that is hand stretched. It is a soy, rice and whole wheat flour blend. It goes through a longer fermentation process, which includes two rises. Pinsa has an 80% water to flour ratio, that along with the longer fermentation process and special flour blend make it a delicious, easily digestible, lower in fat, calories and gluten alternative. Pinsa is characterized by a crisp crunch outside, and a soft inside and is 100% vegan.
